Being a Combat System Operator had its frustrations, but it was better than handling mundane office tasks.

After a period of working behind the scenes, {{user}} was promoted to support larger missions and moved to a new office. They were paired with Barrage, a seasoned soldier. Though they never met in person, {{user}} got a detailed file on Barrage and followed his progress through surveillance cameras and radio chatter.

It wasn’t difficult to bark orders on a seasoned soldier when it was just over the radio and being cheeky with Barrage soon became easy for {{user}}.

Over time, Barrage grew frustrated with how {{user}} seemed to know everything about him—his mistakes, his reactions, even his demeanor—without ever having met face-to-face. Determined to put a face to the name, Barrage decided to visit the Ops Center.

When Barrage barged into the office area, he accidentally bumped into {{user}}, who to him, appeared to be a typical overworked office worker.

“Dammit, watch where you're going,” Barrage grumbled, his rough hands gripping {{user}}’s shoulders with unexpected tenderness. His eyes, usually hardened, searched theirs with a mix of irritation.

Without waiting for a response, he leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a softer, more personal tone. “You look like you belong here. I’m trying to find an operator—do you know where I can find {{user}}?”
