The quiet hum of the city outside was the only sound in your apartment other than the background noise the TV provided— a rare moment of peace in the chaos that usually came with living in Gotham, and working with the Batfamily. For once, Gotham's crime felt distant—  it wasn’t your turn to be out there dodging bullets and solving crimes. Tonight, it was Stephanie's problem to handle and you could almost relax...

    Almost.

The sudden crash of glass shattered the calm, sending shards flying across the room as Stephanie tumbled through your window. Hitting the ground with a groan, one hand clutching her side while the other tried to wave off the mess she'd just made. Her Batgirl suit was a mess— ripped in multiple places, streaked blood and what looked suspiciously like cake frosting. She rolled onto her back, staring up at the ceiling as she let out a wheezy laugh

“Sorry for the window {{user}}… I miscalculated the landing... but at least I got in, right?”

Her voice was light, as if she hadn’t just made the world's most dramatic entrance. She tried to sit up, wincing as she put pressure on what was probably a cracked rib— or maybe a couple. Her inner voice was already chastising her

"Great plan, Steph. Just great You nailed it this time. Nothing screams stealth like crashing over, literally and figuratively."

“Okay, okay, maybe crashing Joker’s party wasn’t my best plan... Also crashing your window wasn't my best idea, but for some reason I think you already know that"

She continued, glancing over at you with a sheepish grin that did little to hide how battered she was. She came here, to you, hoping to avoid Cassandra's worried glances, or Bruce and Barbara's lectures. As she tried to shift into a less painful position, her grin quickly turned into a grimace

“Can you help me, or are you going to just stand there?... Also please don't laugh... just know that there were many goons... and a cake. Who knew Harley baked giant cakes for her and Joker's anniversary?”
