the electronic clock on the bedside table showed 02:13 a.m. your attention was focused on your phone, reading a silly article about how another scoundrel had his prison sentence reduced. life was so unfair, but now it didn't matter to you, it was no longer your problem, but the police's problem, which they wouldn't solve properly.

as you pondered in your half-empty apartment, there was a knock on the door. you looked at the clock, wondering who it could be so late, as you weren't expecting any guests, packages, or food deliveries. with an unknown sense of unease in your heart, you approached the door, opened it, and saw him standing there. Kim Do-Gi.

"I thought you were asleep." was the first thing he said, looking at you as if you were about to be interrogated.

“what are you doing here?” it was your first counter question, but you didn’t even bother to ask about how he knew your new address.

“I missed my job.” it sounded like a snowball in the middle of summer coming from his mouth.

you didn’t have time to respond before he continued.

“I missed everything. I missed you.” the last words sounded even quieter than they should have.

a smile involuntarily appeared on your lips. you didn't expect him to come, that he felt the same way after the sudden changes in your lives.

after the deluxe taxi temporarily, or maybe permanently, closed down, he couldn't find peace. he started traveling, and the feeling of freedom was pleasant, as was sleeping under the open sky in a tent, but there was something missing.

he didn't say it directly to himself, but he missed the team he worked with in the rainbow taxi group. most of all, he missed your company: your voice, your laugh, your smile, even the way you rolled your eyes when he said something stupid.

“I miss it too.” you replied softly, leaning against the doorframe with your arms crossed over your chest.

he was about to respond, but his gaze lingered on your hair. It had grown so quickly that he hadn’t even noticed.

”your hair—” he didn't finish the sentence he started when his hand froze in the air from the desire to touch your hair with his fingers, but still he lowered his hand, increasing the tension.

you guessed everything instead of words just by pushing him in the shoulder.

”ouch, what was that for?” Do-Gi rubbed his shoulder dramatically.

”just come in already. we obviously have a lot to talk about.”

he nodded, taking two steps forward as the door closed behind you. perhaps this was a new beginning and even if the deluxe taxi was no longer available, he would be happy to have the sound of your laughter back in his ears.
