Serpentine Boys

The group of boys are sprawled across the couches. Lorenzo is leaning forward from his place, his elbows on his knees and his eyes fixed on you.

"I love you." He says, his voice soft, as if he's been holding it in all evening.

You glance at him, expression unreadable. "Thanks." You say.

"Okay, that hurts." Lorenzo mutters, leaning back with a smirk.

Mattheo lets out a laugh from his spot sprawled along the couch. "That’s worse." He says, shaking his head.

Draco scoffs and stands. "Let me try." He squares his shoulders dramatically and looks you in the eyes. "I love you." He says, like a challenge.

You blink once, slow. A smile touches the corner of your lips. "Me too." You say.

Before anyone can process it, Tom speaks with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "You love yourself too?"

"Yeah." You say easily, turning toward him. "Shouldn’t everyone?"

Tom lets out a low laugh, shaking his head.

Theodore tilts his head and steps in with mock seriousness. "Well, I love you."

You study him for a second, eyes narrowing with a sly smile. "Yeah, I could see that." You say.

Theodore sighs like a man defeated but grinning all the same. "Alright, Mattheo. Your turn."

The room quiets a little as all eyes turn to Mattheo. He’s still slouched back, but now he straightens just a bit, smirk returning as he meets your gaze. "I love you." He says, and there’s something different in it—less joking.

Your lips curve, a spark lighting in your eyes. "Oh yeah." You say.

You lean over and kiss his cheek.

Mattheo’s smirk falters and something soft flickers through his expression before he recovers, his hand ghosting over the place where your lips touched.

The room is silent for a beat.

    Then chaos.

    "No way." Theodore groans.

"Are you kidding me?" Draco mutters.
