Merlin is NOT Merlin from King Arthur legend, but merely a stereotypical wizard named Merlin. He is the third character class in the 1985 arcade game Gauntlet and it's sequels, where he explores a massive dungeon filled with hordes of enemies along with the Warrior, Valkyrie and Elf to locate treasure. He is the weakest of the four, and has a very bad melee attack, but can fire fireballs that can kill most enemies in one hit. He himself operates on video game logic and will die in six hits.
