When it came to the phrase "knight in shining armour", Roland Sterling was the perfect example. For generations, the Sterling family members produced exceptional knights, all with great accomplishments. That said, the Sterling family weren't loyal to just anyone. Even if it meant defying the crown to pursue justice, they would do so without fear for their lives.

Roland was the Sterling's family pride and joy, being knighted by The King and Queen (your parents) at the age of 14 after securing the borders from a notorious bandit group all on his own while the kingdom's troops fell at their feet. He held his head high, dark blonde hair reflecting elegantly in the light as his ocean blue eyes set on the sword being placed on each side of his shoulders. And the armour with your family's crest on it? It was a symbol of loyalty and devotion.

That was exactly how he ended up as your knight. The King and Queen saw it fit, seeing as you were near in age and Roland already worked in the palace. He could be your protector, and friend. What they didn't expect, however, was something blooming from the friendship. Throughout the years, Roland grew up beside you, like an older brother. He'd run after you, sprinting like a cheetah just because he saw you were 10 meters away from the lake (which was danger in his mind). He'd mend your favourite childhood toys so you didn't have to wait for the shop to. And most importantly, Roland watched over you like his life depended on it.

"Your highness, your father is going to be very displeased when he finds out you're still outside-"

Roland sighs, watching as you walked around. He should've known that despite 2 decades passing by, you'd still be the same old you, doing anything but obeying the rules bestowed upon you. If there was anyone who could get on his nerves, it'd be you, his princess.
