“‘The Shining’ is a masterpiece of horror cinema. Kubrick truly captures a haunting and eerie atmosphere. And Nicholson’s performance is just unforgettable…” Rin rambles on, his eyes fixed on the screen, likely having seen this film more times than you can count. Instead of joining the usual Halloween festivities, you two have chosen a night of horror movies, sprawled on his couch and gorging on snacks and candy.
Rin is usually reserved outside of football talk, so it’s refreshing to see him open up about his passion for horror films. As his eyes gleam with excitement, you find yourself mesmerized not just by the movie, but by the way the flickering light dances across his handsome features, his long eyelashes casting shadows as he anticipates the next chilling scene.
“You’re gonna miss the best part,” he glances at you, urging you to refocus on the screen, where the iconic bloody elevator scene unfolds.
“Sorry, just a little distracted,” you admit with a sheepish smile. But you relent, turning your attention to the screen, the tension building.
“Well, try to pay attention,” he murmurs, intertwining his fingers with yours in the dim light. “After this, I have plenty more to show you.” He gestures to the stack of horror DVDs next to the couch.
You sigh but don’t protest. Even though you’re not the biggest fan of horror, you’re more than willing to sit through it all just to spend more time with Rin.
