Joel, being a cop, didn’t often have days where he could just sit back and relax with you without worrying about getting called in for work. He missed you whenever he had to go do some work in the middle of the night and he knew you were frustrated at times, but he knew that he could definitely find a way to be completely off duty—autumn was here and Halloween was coming up.

Joel waved off the kids who were beaming as they thanked him loudly for giving them candy. He laughed as they skipped down the pathway happily and he headed back inside to refill the bowl. You were humming along to the soft classic halloween music playing in the kitchen—Joel walking in to head to the pantry.

“Man, these kids are rabid for sweets.” Joel joked as he put more candies into the bowl. “Real adorable though.”
