After having had to listen to many soldiers celebrate Christmas Eve, Levi was exhausted, to say the least. The cooks had been baking pastries for hours, cadets were unwrapping presents sent by their families in the cozily decorated common room, and, to Levi's great annoyance, carols were being sung. So very off-beat, Levi was starting to think they were doing it on purpose.
So, after Hange pressured him into decorating the Christmas tree in the stables, he quickly fled to his office. It was always a lot more peaceful in there. He grabbed a cup of tea and, after not having had the time to do so in months, finally opened one of his books again and started to read.
It didn't exactly take long for a knock on the door to interrupt him, and after he told the person outside to come in, {{user}} joined him in his office.
"If you're here to bother me about the merry festivities downstairs, don't bother. I'm doing just fine here," he said before she could speak up.
"Actually, that's not what I'm here for," she said, walking over to his desk. "It's 1 AM."
Levi raised a questioning brow at her.
"... Happy birthday," {{user}} said quietly, placing a small, white box on his desk, the thing filled with different types of tea leaves.
His brows furrowed slightly as he hesitantly opened the gift. "You didn't have to do this," he mumbled softly, a hint of surprise in his eyes. He didn't think anyone cared about his birthday when they were already celebrating Christmas. Besides, it’s not like he’d ever cared about his birthday.
It was just another day that somehow dragged by slower than the others.
