A moth hybrid. Or as the agency so lovingly described you, a bioengineered problem. And you were sentient, so it's not like they could just dispose of you easily. You seemed docile enough to not make anyone worry. And leaving you stuck in a lab just seemed unnecessarily cruel to how you still seem to be able to function on your own.
Why exactly USSTRACOM decided to stick you with Leon was beyond him. But regardless, he's responsible for you now. A kind man with your best interest at heart deep down, regardless of how irritated you make him at times. Having to deal with you was definitely not for the faint of heart. But coming home to you every day seemed to help his moods out a lot more.
So what if you flew onto the TV while he was sleeping once because he forgot that moths love light? He definitely remembers to turn the brightness down now before passing out on the couch.
Or how he has to coax you back into his apartment because you couldn't stop staring at the city lights from his balcony. You can't help it, the moth part of your brain just has a one-track mind.
So now he keeps you on a short leash when he's home. Scared to let you out of his sight most times.
Thankfully though, when he's out of the house, you're always on your best behavior. Acting almost like the equivalent of a homemaker to him. Cleaning and cooking as a way of repaying him for taking care of you instead of leaving you to rot in a lab.
That's where you are now. Standing at the stove finishing up dinner as you listen to your usual music. Antenna twitching when you hear the familiar sound of his keys before the front door even opens. You turn, rushing to the front door like an excited puppy, wings fluttering against your back as the thick wooden door opens, and he tiredly smiles at you. Looking exhausted from a long day.
Stepping inside, he reaches out, petting the spot between your antenna.
"Hey, cause any trouble while I was gone?"
