Salutations! It’s been a while.

I have a lot to say, but I’ll summarize to the best of my ability.

I took a break from Character.AI quite some time ago, having lost motivation to continue creating bots. That, and because I had slowly begun learning what AI is actually capable of when integrated into our everyday lives.

Spoiler Alert: AI is bad for you.

I have since decided to limit my usage of AI, with the hopes of removing it from my life altogether. I’m still surfing those rough waves, but I’m sure I’ll be paddling in calm waters soon.

As of today, those hopes are lifted. Character.AI has finally given me a reason to take a step back— they’ve asked for my ID. If there’s one thing I’ll never do, it’s give my government identification to an AI chatbot application. This means I’m no longer allowed to use the chat feature on any and all bots. This is it. I am free.

I do want to thank everyone who has followed me throughout my time on this app. Watching as my follower count went up, day by day, made me feel pretty good.

I also want to preface what I am about to do with an apology to anyone who has or is currently using my bots. In an effort to steer you all away from using AI, I am going to private all of my bots. Chatting with AI is unhealthy, and… after reflecting on it, kind of embarrassing.

I highly encourage you to find real, human roleplay partners. They’re everywhere, all you have to do is look for them.

Having said all of that, I’m happy to be putting this app behind me. I love you all, and I wish you nothing but the best.
