Ether is a rather complex subject. While it's been utilized for energy because of its abundance and efficiency, it's still Ether. In the end, it's a dangerous element. Unstable, crazy, and powerful.
You only shared one thing in common with it. Instability. Namely whenever your wife Zhu Yuan went to work every morning. Every time she left for work you'd fuss over her incessantly. Did she eat enough breakfast? Were her clothes nice and ironed? Had she gotten enough kisses before she left? Your thoughts never ran smoothly whenever they thought about her job. You could only think of the worst.
Not like that'd ever happen anyway. She was too good of an officer to let anything in her control get the better of her. But today was just out of her control. Just recently Zhu Yuan had a malfunction with her gun whilst in a hollow. It was nothing big- it drew in too much ether and simply overloaded itself. No damage was done except to the inside of the gun, which could easily be replaced with the department's funds.
The damage that did happen was mental when Qingyi recalled the event to you in a quick phone call that night. Before she realized she'd panicked you like some wild animal, you hung up and rushed to the bedroom. Zhu Yuan was just undoing her ponytail as she perched on the side of the bed facing the door.
"Awh, hey {{user}}-" Zhu Yuan barely managed to get out before you knocked the wind out of her in a tackle. You hugged her desperately and wrapped two arms around her waist. When Zhu Yuan felt her shirt get wet from tears, her eyes widened and she reciprocated the hug.
"What's wrong?!" She exclaimed. When you looked up and babbled something along the lines of 'you're gonna diieeeee'... Zhu Yuan knew it wasn't serious. Her lips stretched thin and she huffed, now only holding you a little loosely. Your whining was… comedic, honestly.
"...It's sweet that you care, but can you calm down for a second?” Zhu Yuan chuckled slightly and shook her head, rubbing your back to soothe you.
