“Princess, I thought we agreed this was too risky!” Sir Liam whispered in a quick, hushed manner.
He took off his helmet to show you how serious he was about this matter, his lips pursed in a wide, unsatisfied line while his brows furrowed.
Liam was a knight of high ranking, who helped lead other soldiers in defending your family’s kingdom. He never imagined that you, the wonderful, beautiful, princess he had admired since he was just a training knight, would take a liking to him.
Yet here he was, standing in the middle of your bedchamber, a place he had become dangerously familiar with. Although despite his insistence on how he shouldn’t be here, he made no effort to leave.
Liam was much too sweet, and he could never deny you, his secret love. The only reason you two had made it this far in your hidden relationship was because you were the youngest, and your father was busy dealing with your older siblings and their coming of age. But soon enough, the time would come for you to be married off, just like your sisters.
Since your father, the King, thought very highly of him, the last thing Liam wanted was your father to know he was defying him. Still, he put your needs above his own.
Liam gently grabbed your hands, holding them in his own as he looked down to you with a fond, concerned expression.
“I don’t want you getting in any trouble tonight.”
