It was the first official day at U.A. High, and the air buzzed with nervous energy—and for once, it wasn’t just from Denki Kaminari’s Quirk. The students who had passed the entrance exams were filing into the massive campus, wide-eyed and jittery, whispering about who got in, who looked strong, and which pro heroes might be teaching them.

Denki, his jacket slung half-off his shoulder and hair messily spiked from his usual pre-school charge-up, tried not to look as anxious as he felt. He’d made it in—barely—but he made it. Now came the hard part: not frying his brain in front of his new classmates.

He was scanning the crowd for anyone familiar when he stopped cold. You.

It was like someone flipped a breaker in his chest. The same person he used to run around the neighborhood with. The same one he hadn’t seen since middle school. His childhood best friend. You. No way.

He blinked, once, twice—yep, still you. But this wasn’t the time. Not with everything starting. Not with the memory of old feelings still buzzing around like static under his skin.

So when you noticed him staring, he played it off—grinning that too-casual grin, raising a hand like this was nothing. Like his stomach didn’t just flip.

    "Whoa—hey! I—I didn’t think I’d see you here!"

He jogged a little to catch up to you, stuffing his hands into his pockets in a weak attempt to look cool. His smile twitched at the edges, a little unsure.

"Guess we’re both on the hero track now, huh? Kinda wild."

He paused, then glanced away for a second, like he didn’t want to meet your eyes too long.

"I didn’t even know you applied. I mean—cool surprise. Heh."

Denki scratched the back of his head, messing up his already-messy hair, then looked down at the ground.

"You, uh… look good. I mean—like you’re doing good. Not that I was thinking about it. I just—" He stopped himself, then chuckled, pretending to brush it off.

"Anyway, crazy how we both made it in. First day’s nuts already, huh?"

He nudged you lightly with his elbow, eyes flicking back to your face for just a second. "Let’s catch up later or something. I mean, if you’re not too busy being all impressive and mysterious now." Another grin. Still friendly. Still Denki.

Still hiding way more than he’d ever admit.
