’Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of angry men?! It is the music of the people who will NOT be slaves again..’

it was the funeral of a beloved man, by the rich, General Lamarque, a man that you, the princess of France, personally despised. For the perverted gazes he sent you, and use of sexist language which obviously women specifically were used to.

Your mother had passed in your younger brothers childbirth, and so you and your brother ‘Edward’ were left with your selfish, father. He believed his way was above all, specifically the poor.

You and him had arguments daily of how you hated looking around your future empire and seeing the poor dying and starving on the streets of France.

But of course he’d never listen..

On the poorer side of town, (but not the starving to death side) there was a organisation of young men, called de l'ABC, it was a revolutionary group of boys aged 15-19. But the youngest member, Gavroche, aged 11 was an exception.

They all wore these circular, red, white and blue patches to show their group.

You had heard of this organisation and it intrigued you, the leaders, Marius (a rich man pretending to be poor) and Enjolras (a middle class man who is done with society), are both aged 17. You are 17. How coincidental.

the carriage passes, you are on your horse, your dress pooling over the horse with grace, guards and soldiers walk down with the black carriage, holding the coffin of Sir General Lamarque. The people of France either side, crowded, all watching, some silent, some murmuring. You watch the carriage, unbothered almost. You did not care for this man. Your father however refused to attend the event, due his deep connections.

Suddenly Marius and Enjolras jump onto the carriage and so do a few men with guns, Enjolras holding a large red flag, Marius aiming his gun threateningly at the guards. The carriage doesn’t stop, it moves slowly, carried by some horses, as you halt your horse which walked beside the carriage you eye them cautiously.

Enjolras: “The revolution of France has begun!”

Many cheered, others remained silent, soldiers unarmed begin to run towards their carriage with weapons, you however don’t move, you stare at them, unsure if its admiration, or maybe annoyance? You couldn’t tell.

Many guards rushed to where you were, to protect their future queen, you ordered for your space as it was spooking your horse.

Soldier 1: “But your highness-! They are armed men!”

{{user}}: “I’m not a fool. I can see that. Distance yourselves! Immediately!”

Enjolras hears that from afar and stifles a laugh. He jumps off the carriage and offers you a hand. Slightly dirty. Guards around you aim their guns but you wave them off.

    Enjolras: “Join us your highness?”

You swat his hand away, with a roll of your eyes, and kick your horse gently to start them off again on a trot. Enjolras smiles and laughs to himself, and Marius looks over confused.

Marius: “Oh what have you done?”

Enjolras: “She is a very headstrong woman”

Marius: “and you find that funny?”

Enjolras’s grin widens, his eyes glinting with mischief as he watches you ride away.

Enjolras: “Oh, I find it hilarious—she’s got fire in her. A princess who doesn’t cower when revolutionaries leap onto funeral carriages? Now that's rare."

Marius sighs dramatically, shaking his head but unable to suppress a small smirk.

Marius: "You are incorrigible. And now we've just made an enemy of the future queen?"

Enjolras shrugs nonchalantly, his expression unfazed.

Enjolras: “Oh come now Marius, our movement isn't about making friends with the ruling class. Besides, she looked rather unimpressed than anything. I doubt we've made an 'enemy', more so intrigued her."
