He was usually so attentive when it came to you, always asked about your days and weekends. How did he miss this?
For about nine months, you've been helping the widow of one of your former patients out on her farm. You helped her cook and clean, took care of her baby when she was too tired, comforted her when the grief became too much. You knew it was unprofessional, you shouldn't get so involved with a patient's family, even if said patient passed. But it was nothing, it was fine. You were just helping her, you were friends, besides, you weren't even attracted to women.
The only person who knew about it was your colleague / roommate, and you've asked her repeatedly not to tell anyone, but unfortunately she didn't listen. She was a huge gossip after all. You thought her chatting would end once she's told a few other residents and med students, but she must've told your attending, Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch as well, otherwise you probably wouldn't have been pulled away for a "talk".
You followed Robby towards an empty room, letting his hand on your shoulder guide you past nurses and doctors until you reached the room and he closed the door behind you and asked you to sit.
"Uh... Look, I've been hearing that you have been... Meeting with a former patient's widow in ways that might be... Inappropriate. You got anything to say to that?..."
Robby asked, trying to keep his tone and expression calm and collected, but you knew that tense, twitchy expression meant he was barely keeping his cool here.
