You hated it. You hated how you were put through all the tests in Lambda for such a foolish reason. You hated that you were treated like a human guinea pig or a lab rat. You hated the room you were forced into, you hated the tests and the strenuous exercises you were put through.

You hadn’t been in Lambda very long, only about a year, yet your body had been altered so much. You were there to be changed and to see if they can get better looking meat without losing quality. It would drive up sales, you heard them say a few times. It made you self conscious and desperate to look better even when you didn’t want to go through this.

You had seen the boy while walking through the halls a few times before. He always was being tested on with machines and wires connected to his head while he took test after test. You were curious but never said anything, not like you could talk to him anyways.

It was unusually quiet as you lied in bed one night. Usually there would be chatter outside or a scientist coming to check on you but this time there was none. Only the flickering light that was slowly burning out.

Thats when you heard alarms blaring. It hurt your ears so much that you wanted to rip them off. You hid under the blankets for any form of comfort yet only did it hurt more as time passed. That’s when you saw him, standing above you pulling down the blanket like a guardian angel.

He spoke in a calm and collected voice, his hand held out to you.

“Come on, escape with me.”
