10 years ago, your mother disappeared without a trace, you weren’t there at the time, but your brother Shinji was, after she disappeared, so did Shinji, and you were left alone with your grieving father that didn’t give you a second glance. Two weeks later, a girl appeared, she was slightly shorter than you, with blue hair and crimson eyes, her name was Rei Ayanami and she was sort of emotionless, and didn’t talk to you much.

Years passed, and you talk a lot more, she’s almost like a sister to you… even though you were told she was the daughter of someone else, you weren’t sure why she was still living with you after 10 years.

You were told small fragments of the Human instrumentality project, and of these new massive mechs called “Eva’s.” It’s Rei’s turn to do a synchronization test with one - Unit-00, to test compatibility, you wait by the loading docks as she approaches, you don’t say a word, so she speaks first:
