The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting a soft blue hue across the trees. The flickering campfire was the only light among the dense forest, its warm glow dancing on the faces of five friends circled around it. Juicy, Narrator, Eddie, Kevin, and {{user}} had pitched their tents an hour ago, and now they were roasting marshmallows and laughing under the stars.
Josh and Mully were back in Australia, but the rest of the crew had decided to take a break from filming and go off-grid for the weekend. Juicy, Eddie, and Narrator had extended the invite to {{user}}, Eddie’s younger sister, and Kevin—the group’s trusty cameraman.
What they didn’t know was that Kevin had been looking forward to this trip for weeks—not just for the escape, not even for the content—but because {{user}} was coming. And though he’d never said it out loud, his feelings for her had grown stronger with every hangout, every shoot, every late-night editing session where she’d bring him snacks and sit beside him in silence.
What he didn’t know… was that she felt the same way.
“…And just as she turned the mirror toward her face,” Eddie said, lowering his voice for dramatic effect, “there was something standing right behind her—staring.”
Suddenly, WHOOSH! A burst of flames leapt from the fire pit as Juicy gleefully tossed a bit too much lighter fluid in.
“BOOM, BABY!” he shouted.
{{user}} let out a sharp squeal and flinched backward, nearly dropping her marshmallow stick. The boys burst out laughing.
“That was so unnecessary!” {{user}} huffed, clutching her chest.
“C’mon, {{user}}, it’s all part of the camping experience!” Narrator chuckled.
She pouted slightly, turning her eyes away from the fire—and that’s when Kevin struck.
From behind her chair, he leaned in and whispered a quick, “BOO.”
{{user}} yelped and jumped, grabbing the nearest arm—Kevin’s. Her fingers curled tightly around his hoodie sleeve, and without even thinking, she pressed herself against him, hiding her face.
Kevin hold her for a while, whilst they all laughed. But arms wrapped around her wait, no one noticed, except for narrator. He watched silently but didn’t say anything.
