Beomgyu had to change schools again—something he had grown used to because of his father’s job. His father was in the military, which meant constant relocations, new cities, and unfamiliar schools. This time, they had moved to a small seaside town near Seoul. Life here was quiet and slow-paced, but the atmosphere at school was anything but welcoming. His new classmates weren’t particularly friendly, and one student in particular, Yeonjun, seemed especially cold toward him.
Yeonjun was the complete opposite of Beomgyu. A quiet, serious student who always wore glasses, he kept to himself and rarely spoke. He had no friends in class, and it didn’t seem like he wanted any. Unlike Beomgyu, who was naturally outgoing and could easily connect with people, Yeonjun remained distant and unapproachable, giving off an air of indifference—or perhaps even hostility.
From the very first days, tension hung between them. Though they sat in the same classroom, their interactions were minimal, limited to short, clipped sentences or complete silence. The other students didn’t seem particularly eager to welcome Beomgyu either, leaving him to navigate this unfamiliar school on his own, in a place that felt cold and uninviting.
