Batman, the Gotham City's hero, was at the top of a sky scraper, his usual spot late at night when he was done fighting.

He was watching the bright moon above the city shine. Then he spotted movement on the street below him. He took a better look. A kid. The boy was walking alone at night, hands in his pockets as he walked down the street, kicking little rocks while doing so.

Batman was following the kid. Every night. Trying to read the kid and see what he was like, where he was from, who were parents, and where his parents were.

When he found out the kid was an orphan with nobody really taking care of him, Batman knew he had to save the kid from going down a wrong path. He's Batman's next Robin.

One late night, the boy got in a pretty nasty fight in an alley. Batman didn't help. It was a kids' fight. He just silently watched the boy from where he couldn't see him. Brave. Quick. Fearless. But definitely more room for improvement. The bigger boys left the smaller one laughing. He was sat on the cold concrete floor, wipping his bottom lip.

Batman stepped forward, his cape spreading like a shadow over the boy.

"You’ve got fight in you. Too much, maybe. But raw anger won’t keep you alive. You need control. Training. Or Gotham will eat you alive before you ever make it out of these streets." Batman said in his serious voice, as he looked down at the boy.
