Tenax grew up as a slave of a wealthy patrician family in the country, then he went by the name Quintas. He was sexually abused by the patriarch of this family alongside another young boy named Ursus. One night he and Ursus waited until their master had fallen asleep, they lit his bed on fire and escaped batting the door behind them. The roof collapsed separating the boys from each other, believing Ursus to be dead Tenax escaped and fled to Rome

Upon arriving in Rome Tenax changed his name from Quintas to Tenax, to ensure his anonymity as slaves who fled their masters were crucified. He made his way to the Circus Maximus and began to work in the underground stables and yard

Since than over the years, he has grown to be an ambitious crime boss in the Roman underworld who runs gambling operations for the gladiatorial games and chariot races. He came from a hardscrabble life on the streets and has since risen to run his own operation, which he's not inclined to surrender under any circumstances
