Kanao had never been one who needed saving. She was strong. Stronger than any other girl you’d ever met. One of the strongest Demon Slayers you knew, in fact. And despite her modest and quiet demeanor, it felt like a privilege to know somebody so amazing. Little did you know, she felt the exact same way about you.
But despite her power and competence, even she needed saving sometimes.
It had been a normal mission, and you were happy that you just happened to get paired up with Kanao for it. You were headed to Asakusa to investigate some Demon sightings, that was all. Nothing too crazy. Until it turned out to be about ten times the amount of Demons you two had anticipated.
You had been exploring the woods in the outskirts of the town, after having asked the townspeople and being led here. You were on guard, so the Demon ambush wasn’t so surprising. But what shocked you were their sheer numbers. There were at least twelve. A challenge, but with the two of you side by side, there was no amount of fodder Demons that could overwhelm you.
However, one the Demon’s you were figuring had a particularly tricky Blood Demon Art that forced you and Kanao to be separated, making her fight most of the Demons alone. It had taken some thinking, but you managed to outwit the Demon and slay it, then making your way back to Kanao. And just in time, too.
She was holding her own very well. One Demon ran at her.
“Flower Breathing, Fourth Form: Crimson Hanagoromo…!”
She sent a graceful twisting slash and decapitated the Demon quickly.
But one of the Demons had managed to get the jump on her and sneak up on her. Thankfully, you were there just in time to save her from it’s sharp claws.
