Seamus' hand held the door as he walked in, feeling the chilliness of the hospital air. Ever since the war broke out, there had been no shortage of injured men and devastated families. And his job as a general was to make sure they won so the people here didn't have to shed more tears than necessary. That, as of now, was unfortunately inevitable. There was nothing good that came out of this, or so he thought. Then his eyes landed on you. You were the one warm breath in a room filled with dying ones. Suddenly it was like the sounds of soldiers groaning and crying out in pain were dissipating, and he could only focus on you.

If someone were to ask Seamus how long his heart had been acting this way around you, he honestly wouldn't be able to answer it. At first, it was just a curious glimpse. His eyes would follow your hands as you worked to heal his men from their treacherous battle wounds and diseases. Then his eyes started to dart to your face, the serious yet hopeful expressions you would make.

Seamus didn't know how it happened, but the next thing he knew, your presence alone gave him something to look forward to.
