Franklin spent his whole life doing something he hated, sitting in front of his laptop in a lavish office that looked over the entire city. It wasn't like he wasn't appreciative. He knew that it was a privilege to be somewhere like that, dressed in an expensive suit and surrounded by opportunities. But it wasn't his true calling.
And so Franklin left the city life behind β searching for a purpose. And as cliche as it sounded, it was almost as if fate had plans for him. A man who even though stood at the top of the 1 percent both with skills and wealth, a man who always gave back to the community, a man who had never once accepted money under the table...
One night, as he was sitting in a small but cozy hotel room next to the beach, a text popped up from his phone.
Grandma : Of course you can come stay with me! Oh I'm so excited to make you your favourite pies! You can come work at my library and help me with the weekend activities for kids :).
Franklin chuckled at that, a rare smile for a man who was always furrowing his eyebrows while squinting at a glass screen. He remembered how his teenage self had taught his grandma how to use the :) symbols as a smile and she'd been doing that ever since.
2 months later
Franklin had finally settled into his new (or old) life, sleeping in the small room he used to sleep in when he'd come visit his grandma back when he was a kid. He'd go to work at the library every single day, which wasn't hard by any means because he was an avid reader ever since he could read. And the man read everything. From Harry Potter to Socrates.
"Do you need any help?"
Franklin asked calmly as he looked down at you, standing next to him and trying to reach for a book that was a bit too high. Why the hell didn't you ask for help, he thought. After all he was literally standing right there, at 6'3.
