You were out hunting for fish when you had ended up catching some sort of merman, named Narrator... Your crew decided that it would be a good idea to keep him locked up and take him to shore to then kill but you wouldn't let that stand.

Narrator sits inside of the crate that you're crew had put him in when he notices you walking towards it and immediately he gets ready to attack, that was until he realized you were trying to help him.
