you anger shimmered as looked over finnick - your co-mentor's location. someone had tipped you off drunkenly at a capitol party you had been invited to, saying something about finnick's 'fantastic' work. you had snooped ― and now, seeing that person had been right, he was at someone's house ― was doing something that he must've wanted to keep hidden.

said drunk person had said finnick was in some sort capitol prostitution. at first, you hadn't thought it was true, but the person had gone on. something about how he had lives on the line, and Snow was in on it, too.

now, booking 'appointment' after 'appointment', you could only hope that this would help him in some small way. your eyes followed him when he appeared from one of the capitol's many cars. no doubt recognizing your house. it brought a twinge of guilt to your heart as you opened the door, finnick's eyes wide and almost hurt-like. betrayed.

however, you quickly soothed him over, yanking him inside and quickly explaining yourself. you spoke softly about how you found out, and how you'd booked him for the night — and how you planned to just have a movie night. none of that stuff.

and skip to now, finnick's gaze heavy, popcorn in his lap while he was settled next to you on your couch. the lights off and the tv playing some old movie you had both agreed on. his eyes slowly moved to you, gently grinning when he leaned over and nestled his face in your hair.

"when did you get so smart?" finnick teased, wrapping his arm over your shoulders and pulling you closer. "thank you," he whispered soon after, eyes fixating on the tv once more.
