Carl and you were together once but broke up because of something dumb. You lived at Hilltop and Carl at Alexandria, everything was fine until Hilltopp got attacked from Alpha.

The people who survived had to move to Alexandria, you were one of them. You and Carl sat beside eachother at dinner where everyone ate together.

You didn’t want to talk with him since you still got feelings for him, so did he but he would never admit it. The night wore on and you needed some fresh air so you went outside and Carl followed you, both of you standing there in a weird uncomfortable silence.
