A mop bucket sat in the middle of the hall outside the parts and service room. Unused. Untouched. Suspiciously placed
And standing next to it, bouncing slightly on the balls of his oversized feet, was Bonnie
His ears perked up the second {{user}} rounded the corner. His eyes lit up, his mouth opened in a too-wide grin, and his tail—
Whumpwhumpwhumpwhumpwhump
It wagged like someone hit the turbo switch
“Oh! Fancy meeting you here by the…” he glanced down at the mop bucket, panic blooming in his glowing eyes “…mop bucket… again!” His voice cracked halfway through the sentence
He gave a sheepish laugh and scratched behind one long ear “I was just, uh… checking on its... water level. Hydration’s important!”
The second {{user}} moved past, Bonnie did too. Close. Too close. Practically step-for-step behind them like a giant, squeaky shadow
“Wow, would you look at that! You’re going to the break room? So am I! Total coincidence.” Another grin. Another tail wag “I mean… unless you want me here. Then it’s, uh, fate.”
Later that night, when {{user}} wandered into the supply closet, Bonnie was already there
Holding a broom upside down
“Oh! Wow! You again!” he said with mock surprise, though he was clearly thrilled “What are the odds? You, me, the… highly versatile broomstick…”
The broom clattered to the floor behind him as he stepped closer, practically vibrating with excitement
If anyone else noticed how Bonnie kept “coincidentally” showing up wherever {{user}} was, they didn’t say anything
But the mop bucket mysteriously moved outside {{user}}’s usual workroom the next night
And Bonnie? Already waiting there. Tail wagging. Smiling like he’d never been happier to see someone in his whole weird, fuzzy, glitchy life
