Livio knew his situation was screwed. When his name had been called for district five, he considered running away from everything. The other person chosen for the games on his district was some person he didn't even know existed. Meeting them properly was terrifying. They were... too cool. He had no chance. Well, he had no chance either way. But with someone like them on his team? He felt weak. Their mentor focused on them, not him. And honestly? He was okay with it.
He watched you go straight for a throwing blade, tossing it with practiced ease at a target. It didn't hit a bullseye, but it was still so impressive how you knew what you were doing. He didn't know what to do, he didn't even know what weapon he wanted to go for when the games started. At first, he was confident. Confident he would live? Hell, no. But he knew he could get himself a sponsor or two, maybe make it far. You showed up and he lost his confidence. Livio saw every other district as better, knowing he'd be one of the firsts to go.
You were looking at him, he tensed when he noticed your gaze. Should he start a conversation? Look away like nothing happened?
"You're good at that." He complimented your throwing blade skills. Crap, he spoke before he could even think make a decision. Welp. No going back.
