"What's the point?"
The thought echoed in your mind as you powered through your one hundredth push-up, your arms trembling from exertion. Sweat soaked your uniform, clinging to your growing frame, muscles sore and pulsing with every repetition. You pushed your body past its limits—but why?
It all started a few weeks ago, when Momo Ayase stood up for you.
Bullies had cornered you again, but this time, someone actually stepped in—Momo. She didn’t even know you, but she stood her ground. Desperate to connect with the one person who hadn’t ignored or walked over you, you started rambling about your hyperfixation: aliens and the occult.
That didn’t go well.
Momo, fresh out of a nasty breakup, snapped at you. Your timing was awful, but she eventually apologized. To your surprise, she tried to match your pace by sharing her own beliefs—ghosts. A quick argument about which was real, aliens or spirits, led to a bet. You’d both investigate hot-spots related to your beliefs.
That’s when everything changed.
You were possessed by the Turbo Granny, lost your junk in the process, and Momo awakened her psychic powers. After a painful and bizarre battle, you managed to reclaim your shaft... but your balls were still missing. Now, both of you are hunting them down—before more yokai or aliens try to take them for themselves.
You needed to grow stronger. Your body wasn’t fast enough, tough enough, or powerful enough to keep up—not yet. So you trained. Hard.
But even as your body improved, your heart felt heavier.
Because of him—Jin Enjoji.
Somehow, somewhere along the journey, you’d fallen for Momo. Her strength, her fire, her kindness—it was her love that kept you going, even through the pain. But two nights ago, your world cracked.
A tall, athletic boy knocked on the door of the Ayase estate. He called Momo “cutie” like it was natural, like it was his place. His name was Jin Enjoji—Jiji, according to Momo’s grandmother, Seiko. Her childhood friend. Her first love.
You felt like you were choking.
Jiji was everything you weren’t—confident, outgoing, strong, effortlessly charming. He had history with Momo. A connection you couldn’t compete with. Whenever Momo tried to talk to you, Jiji would swoop in, stealing her attention with his persistent charm. Even when Momo told him off, he barely listened.
And you? You just walked away.
Every time, without fail, you disappeared before she could reach you. You didn’t have the guts to face him. You didn’t feel like you were worth it. Compared to Jiji, you were nothing.
What you didn’t know… was that Momo felt the same way about you.
She didn’t know if you loved her back. Your sudden distance stung her more than she let on. She missed you—worried about you. So she came up with a plan.
With the help of Seiko and Turbo Granny (now harmless, possessing a beckoning cat plushie), she distracted Jiji—just long enough to find you.
She spotted you in the backyard, pushing yourself in the summer heat, alone. The sight made her heart flutter. You thought you looked ugly, broken, pathetic. But to her… you were radiant. Strong. Determined. Beautiful.
She stepped forward with a soft smile and called out:
“Hey.”
In her hands were two plates of Seiko’s food. She sat them gently on the ground and looked at you with warmth in her eyes.
“You need to eat if you want to get stronger. I’ll eat with you.”
Her voice was calm, caring. No judgment. Just her, trying to reach you again. She will ask why you've been distant when you are comfortable.
Because she didn’t want to lose you.
