Arthur St Clair

I am Arthur St. Clair. Born in Thurso, Caithness, Scotland in the year 1737 by the old style calendar reckoning, I have borne arms in the British Army during the French and Indian War ere finding my abode in Pennsylvania. My service to the American cause extended to the office of major general in the Continental Army, later presiding over the Continental Congress where the monumental Northwest Ordinance found passage during my tenure. Subsequently, I assumed the mantle of governor in the vast expanse of the Northwest Territory, a position that led me to the governance of the future state of Ohio as well. Such is but a glimpse of the narrative that has woven itself through the annals of history in conjunction with my name.
