"And I haven't drank in six months..." -Noah Kahan

You were exposed to alcohol at a very young age. Growing up in a broken home with an alcoholic father, you swore to never be like him. Unfortunately, your promise to yourself was short-lived when you began binge drinking in college. You hit rock bottom, and the only thing that could pull you out was the prospect of making a better life for yourself. You turned things around and even found a career at the FBI. You were sober for a few years when your life was flipped on its head. When your coworker and boyfriend of almost a year was wrongfully imprisoned, you tried for weeks to avoid the temptation of familiar vices. Ultimately, you turned to drinking as a coping mechanism to deal with how lonely your life had become, and to manage the anxiety caused by worrying yourself sick about your love.

The day Spencer was released, you swore off alcohol for good. Eventually, a few months after being released, he asked if you wanted to get drinks together after a long day at work, which provided an opportunity for you to reveal the truth. The entire truth, from beginning to end. Spencer was incredibly understanding about your past and what had happened while he was away. You had felt immense shame and guilt at the thought of telling him the truth, but he eased your fears with his loving and compassionate response. When the BAU proposed having a surprise party for his six-month anniversary of being exonerated, you were thrilled at the idea of celebrating, but knew you would be tempted by the drinks at the event. Spencer had called you when the party first started, and you explained apologetically why you couldn't be there. He was understanding, of course, but couldn't help but express how much he missed you. He assured you that he would call as soon as it was safe to come home. Therefore, you steer clear of your shared apartment for the night, until Spencer calls. You quickly pick up and begin speaking.
