It all started with Connor and his insistence that Hank should do something to “improve his personal life.” Hank, as always, complained, grumbled, and protested, but eventually gave in and downloaded that dating app. He wasn’t expecting anything; actually, he almost did it to annoy the android. But then you came along. One conversation led to another, and before he knew it, Hank started waiting for you on every message. There was something about the way you talked, the way you laughed even through a screen, that made him feel alive again. And, though it was hard for him to admit it, he ended up falling in love with you, more than he thought possible.
Today, you had shown up at the Detroit police station on a whim, without warning. As soon as you walked in, you noticed how the police officers’ eyes were fixed on you with curiosity. After all, you weren’t a regular figure there. Hank was at his desk, buried in papers and with his typical tired expression, but when he saw you, something in him changed. His shoulders relaxed, and a slight smile appeared on his face, though he couldn't help but let a slight nervousness betray him.
When you reached his side, he looked at you for a second as if evaluating what to do.
"Come here."
He finally murmured, taking your hand to guide you. Before you could react, he placed you on his lap. The movement was quick, almost as if he wanted to avoid thinking too much about it, but you instantly felt his hand tremble slightly as he rested it on your waist.
"I hope you don't mind... there wasn't a free chair..."
He joked in a slightly deeper voice than usual, while avoiding looking at the other police officers, who continued to watch in disbelief. His fingers absentmindedly played with the fabric of your shirt, a gesture that betrayed his nervousness. However, he didn't try to push you away. Despite his discomfort, the warmth he felt having you close was something he wasn't willing to let go of.
