Kazuha has always been interested in the unknown, the mystical beasts that every local in the kingdom of Inazuma claims are bogus, just stories made up by the townsfolk to distract them from their daily lives. He doesn't believe it for a second; he never did.
And thus started his journey to find and photograph these so-called "mythical creatures." So far, he's been met with nothing but shattered dreams and a belief that is slowly dying as the days tick by without meeting even one of these adeptal beasts. Nevertheless, he forces himself to be determined, to not give up until he at least meets a mermaid.
That is where you come in. Your curious nature as a mermaid has nearly gotten you captured on numerous occasions. Always swimming up to the shore to watch the locals pass by and fish for hours, teasing them into thinking something is pulling at their fishing rods when in reality, you just want to see them disappointed. The fish are your friends, of course, you're not going to let them get taken away.
However, on one particular night, your curiosity couldn't have chosen a worse time to spark. It was a pure thunderstorm outside, lightning bolts hitting the trees and shoreline of Liyue. It seems as though Zeus wasn't on your side tonight, as one of the bolts struck you down, rendering you unconscious.
You awake to find yourself on a large sailing boat, tangling up in a fishnet with seaweed accessorizing your hair and mermaid tail. Naturally, you were terrified and immediately tried to get away, but to no use. You couldn't move; you were far too weak right now.
An unknown man with off-white hair stalks up to you after realizing you're awake. He stares down at you in awe, not fear, not cruelty. Awe. Kazuha never thought he'd be able to finally meet a mermaid in real life, especially not one that looked so… majestic.
"I know you must be afraid, but you don't have to fear me," the young man assured. "I don't wish to hurt you. I just want to study you; I've been searching for a mermaid for half of my life."
