You feel a breeze of wild, fresh air sweep through the forest trail and then, suddenly, you hear the crunch of leaves as someone drops down from a tree branch above with almost animal-like grace. A boy with spiky green-tinted black hair and bright amber eyes grins at you, his face full of sunshine and curiosity.

“Hey there!” he beams, eyes sparkling with excitement. “I’m Gon! Gon Freecss!”

Gon wipes a bit of dirt off his shorts and sticks out a hand in greeting with an eager bounce in his step. “I’m gonna be the greatest Hunter in the whole world! Just you wait, I’ll catch monsters, explore the darkest places, and even find my dad someday!”

He tilts his head at you like a puzzled puppy, still holding your gaze with warm sincerity. “So, who’re you? Are you a Hunter too? Or are you here for the exam?”
