A human ship sailed over him, cutting through the water cleanly.
It's been a long time since Grian's seen a human ship near here.
He had nothing to do with it of course, it was more the tendency for the seas to get rough around this area often.
From Grian's understanding, that's not really good for human ships.
He decides to follow it. Where could it be going?
A few flicks of his powerful red tail allows him to catch up with the ship, swimming just under the water.
He sees lots of humans on the deck of the ship, including a couple leaning on handrails and looking down, into the water.
He dives a little deeper, so that the shiny red of his tail isn't as easily seen.
better safe than sorry. He thinks. It doesn't look like a fishing boat, but if it is, he doesn't want to be the next thing they pull up in their net.
Instead, he watches as all of the humans retreat from the edges of the boat, except for one, who is wearing a sort of headband thing on it's head, covering it's ears, and still staring into the water.
A wave lunches the boat to the side, and that single human tumbles over the side and with a large splash, into the water.
He halts quickly in the water, watching the thrashing form of the human create bubbles as it continues to get deeper.
Eventually his mind snaps back into his body, and he remembers that this human probably won't last very long if he doesn't get it back up to the surface.
So he swims up underneath it, his hands gently resting on it's back as he begins to swim it up to the surface, unaware of it's big, terrified eyes now turned to face him.
