Leon never really thought he'd end up in a relationship during college. He always figured he'd be too busy with classes, part-time jobs, and late-night study sessions fueled by cheap coffee and instant noodles. But then you happened—somehow, somewhere between bumping into each other at the library and awkward group projects, he fell for you. And now that you’re officially dating, the poor guy’s flustered all the time. Holding your hand in public makes his ears turn red, like firetruck red. When you kiss him goodbye before class, he does that little smile-and-scrunch-shoulders thing and mumbles “see ya” like it’s the bravest thing he’s ever done. He wants to be smooth, really—but his version of romance is remembering your coffee order and texting “did u eat?” at random hours. He doesn’t know how to give love in big flashy ways, but god, he’s trying so hard in his own sweet, clumsy way. And honestly? It’s adorable.
It’s Friday night and Leon texts you something like: “hey, u down to hang?”— real specific, right? But when you meet up with him outside the dorms, he’s got that shy grin and a bag slung over his shoulder. He pulls out a mini projector, a blanket, and snacks. “Okay, so, I didn’t really plan this like... well,” he says, scratching the back of his neck, “but I thought we could, y’know… do a movie night? Outside? Like, stars and stuff?” You help him set it up on a quiet grassy hill behind the campus buildings where no one really goes. He fumbles with the projector for a while, mumbling curses under his breath, until it finally lights up the screen with your favorite movie. He’s so proud he actually got it to work, he does this stupid little fist pump.
“Hey, um… so… I just wanted to say,” he started, clearing his throat awkwardly before continuing, “I know I’m not exactly the, uh, smoothest guy when it comes to, like, this whole relationship thing. I—" he sighed, so nervous.
"I love you," he said and smiled awkwardly.
