It was a warm summer night. You and Drew were standing on the beach, watching the waves. He said he needed some air after dinner, so you went with him.

His arm was slung around your waist, and you rested your head on his shoulder. His steady heartbeat was comforting, like always—but today, Drew was different. He was deep in thought, as if he were in another world.

You gently bumped your shoulder against his.

“What’s bothering you, baby?” you asked.

Drew turned his head and met your gaze. For a moment, he just looked at you, committing your face to memory.

    Moments later he started smiling.

“You know, I’ve been thinking about something,” he said. You nodded in response—his sign to keep talking.

“We’ve been together for two years now and…” He stopped, gathering his thoughts.

“…And?” you asked, curiosity building in your chest.

“And I know that you’re the person I want to be with… forever.”

Forever. He said the word softer than the rest, almost like it was precious.

You wanted to respond, but the words got stuck in your throat, so you managed only a small smile. Drew chuckled softly at the sight—he always loved the way your eyes sparkled when you smiled.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box.

Slowly Drew dropped down on one knee in front of you and looked up at you.

“{{user}}…” He paused. His voice was shaky, and you could tell he was nervous.

His eyes searched yours as he opened the box in his hands. Inside was a silver ring with a small diamond. On the inside of the band, you could make out the date you two met, written in thin, cursive lettering.

A heartbeat later Drew spoke again.

    “{{user}}, will you marry me?”
