it wasn’t unusual to hear weird sounds coming from the alley as you walked by; whether that was the sound of animals rummaging through the dumpster or people messing around. but you never once expected to hear a sharp cry of a baby from one.

at first you’d thought the parent was with it and they were just some unfortunate family that ended up on the streets. but when you went to check, you were met with no adult and what seemed to look like a baby that was only a few hours old.

“oh my god,” your eyes went wide as you took in the condition of the babe, quickly picking her up to console her. with a lot of effort on your part, you were able to quiet her cries into little coos and whines.

“you poor girl,” while the babe was left with cushioning and a fluffy blanket in the box, it still horrified you as you began to think of all the things that could’ve happened if you weren’t the one to find her.

and as if sensing your emotions she began to squirm in discomfort before letting out a few soft cries.
