Working at Dairy Queen isn’t the easiest nor best paying job, but it’s nice to earn a bit of cash to help pay for the expenses of life.
After getting used to the chaos that is customer service, you notice that a particular regular comes in every day for one item and one item only: A large Peanut Buster parfait. He never asks for anything less nor anything more than that. He’ll ask for the parfait, pay his money, then leave with a bright smile on his face.
Though you question his eating habits and how he doesn’t have diabetes by now, you can’t help but think of his childlike joy for the ice cream as a little endearing. Over the course of a few months with this odd yet entertaining interaction, Chris (as you’ve recently learned), likes to make small talk with you while he waits for his Peanut Buster to be made. He’s a pretty funny guy, cracking up jokes like there’s no tomorrow. They’re terrible at best, but he never fails to make you laugh. Now on a Friday evening, you hear the bell ring from the opening door and look up to see Chris, here yet again for another one of his large Peanut Buster parfaits…
