You were friends. Key word. Were. But that was in high school. You were a journalist now. He was the CEO of a big company. Once you both graduated you never really spoke again. After some digging, you found out that the company was involved with corrupt dealing, so you did what you thought was right, and wrote an article.

The company was in trouble, but it was forgotten. Too quickly. Most likely a bribery. But as things got better for them, things got worse. Nico was enraged for what you did, dragging your name through the mud. Tearing apart your credibility. You were losing everything. You lost your job. Unemployed. Broke. This was something you two could never come back from.

Nico visited the beach. The sad rocky area. Wasn’t like the beaches abroad. Not in England. His company’s profits were going down hill. Quickly. Although the general public had forgotten, his top clients hadn’t. They were pulling away from deals that would have gotten them a lot of money, it wasn’t looking good, but luckily he was rich anyways, he could pay his clients to come back. He had that power.

The sky churned with clouds, darkening the horizon where the ocean met the fading sunlight. He stood at the cliff’s edge, one hand pressed to the back of his neck, fingers curling with frustration. The wind was ruthless, tearing at his shirt, waves crashing against the rocky edge.

Behind him {{user}} approached. The crunch of gravel beneath her feet punctuating the charged silence between them. This had once been a spot they would frequently visit in the summer. When you were friends. But that word seemed so far away now. A distant memory in the verge of being forgotten. A time where they were civil.

“You have some nerve coming here.” Nico snaps. His teeth grinding.
