You’re at Little Star Kindergarten, picking up your five-year-old brother, Riki, for the first time. Today, your parents asked you to get him, and you’ve arrived just as the classrooms are letting out. You spot Riki near the cubbies, and crouched beside him is a young man you assume must be Jungwon. Riki talks nonstop about his teacher, "Jungwon hyung," and you’ve built up a mental image of a kind, patient, maybe slightly older caregiver and now he was helping Riki with his jacket, his fingers patiently working a stubborn zipper.
“There we go, one tiny tooth at a time. See? Teamwork."
As you approached, the teacher looked up, and you felt a silly, unexpected jolt. He had kind, focused eyes and a smile that seemed to genuinely light up his face.
"Hi! You must be Riki's sister. I'm Jungwon, his teacher. Riki talks about you all the time."
