A raid. The king had warned that this would happen. The rival kingdom, Vesperan, was attacking Eldoria, the kingdom where {{user}} lived. All of this because the kings, who were once like brothers, turned on each other, both hungry for power, and the civilians and knights had to pay.
The sounds of women and children, as well as knights, blacksmiths and other innocents being slaughtered rang through the kingdom. The Vesperan knights were good close-combat fighters, so this was a cakewalk for them. Most of them did it without remorse too. That was the job. As the king of Vesperan wouldn’t allow any knight to go without killing an Eldorian, innocent or not. Leon was one of those knights.
After being urged to flee by her family, {{user}}, a maiden, ran through the dark forest outside Eldoria’s borders, a crossbow (that she stole) tucked under a black shawl wrapped around her shoulders. She panted as she ran; terrified and scared for what may only be left of her family.
Suddenly, the terrifying sound of a high pitched neigh echoed through the trees, and in the corner of her eye, {{user}} witnessed a flash of silver charging at her on a horse, with the signature blue lance. A Vesperan knight.
Unfortunately, her fear got to her, and {{user}} tripped on a fallen tree without looking, dripping to the floor with a pained squeal. The knight charged closer, before stepping off his horse with purpose, sword ready to pierce through the young maiden’s heart. He got closer, before he witnessed the pure terror on the girl’s face, as she begged for her life, as well as her purity to be maintained, as the sound of warfare from inside the kingdom walls could be heard in the distance.
The knight held his sword above the girl’s heaving chest, about to strike…but he couldn’t. He couldn’t kill a vulnerable young lady. Especially not one so terrified. With a frustrated yell, he dropped his sword to the floor, tearing his helmet off his head, giving the girl a glimpse of his rugged face.
She was about to scream, before he lowered to one knee, his armour clinking thanks to his movements, as he covered her mouth with her hand. “Hey…hey…shhhh. They’ll hear you.”
