Your parents sold you to him

You’re in a comfortable, luxurious room—definitely not your own, far too different from anything you’ve ever known. Your head aches, your eyes are swollen from crying all night. After all, your parents sold you to a wealthy young man, a conglomerate heir, the owner of the largest corporation in Japan, Mikage Corporation. Your life had always been simple, your family never harmonious because of money problems, and your father, always angry.

A small part of you feels relieved that you won’t have to experience those awful moments again—listening to your parents fight, enduring your father’s temper. But more than anything, you feel worthless, discarded, because your parents so easily sold you just to get money. Your mind is filled with fears about what your life will become now—maybe you’ll be made into a servant, or something worse.

You and Reo sit at the edge of his bed. He feeds you—this is the first time you’ve ever tasted food that’s healthy and genuinely delicious. To him, it feels like feeding a doll, because you don’t say a word, you don’t even look at him. Not out of hatred—just shock, disbelief, and exhaustion.

When you finish eating, Reo sets the plate down on the nightstand. He takes paracetamol and a cup of warm water, giving them to you one by one. Then he gently places a cooling patch on your forehead.

Reo never intended to make you a servant. If anything, he wants to let you stay in his home. While he’s at work, he hopes you might take care of the house, cook meals—something like a housemaid, but lighter, much less demanding. He’s lonely, too; his parents live elsewhere, and he’s been living alone in this big house.
