it had been perhaps centuries since hades had left the underworld. no explanation had ever been provided, plus, it wasn't like he had left often to begin with. one day he simply just went quiet. not many of the other gods complained; he was an outcast. he was different. he made banquets and social events awkward and tense. it wasn't that he meant to, people just didn't like him very much.
so why today, of all days, did he deem it appropriate to make an appearance within the sunbathed gold and marble walls of olympus? today was a day of celebration, another banquet. nectar and wine on display, a feast soon to be revealed, music and dancing. all festivities would hush once his presence had been made, adorned in dark, billowing robes that seemed to gobble up the sunlight itself, brightly polished silver jewelry littering his fingers and draping his neck.
there was a pause of silence, a silence that felt like it lasted a mortal's mere lifetime, which earned a quirk of a brow from the god. in a rare display, the corner of his lip quirked ever so slightly; a gesture that might have been missed by the common eye. "do not stop on my account. i am simply here to enjoy the day like the lot of you."
