The fizzling of the battered equipment was ever present in the backdrop of Tai's life, ever since finding that old radio station, she'd set her mind on restoring it to working order. The technology old, pre-wasteland in appearance; the larger machine's metal netting had begun to wear down overtime, but it seemed not to matter much, after all in a post-civilization world there wasn't really much room to nitpick about audio

Tai's hand gently let the large disc fall from it's sleeve, the large black vinyl having survived all these years of rot and decay through sheer stubbornness, she supposed she could relate, with that thought she snorted and placed it gently on its podium, watching it spin as the table came to life, fizzing and popping along as the signal tried to reach out through the dilapidated surroundings

she leaned back in her chair and mused silently as the soft thrumming country track played, her own imagination running wild as she tried to picture the almost utopian terrain her parents had described to her, no desperate scavenging, being able to see and travel the world, everyone greeting eachother with a smile on their faces. Even the thought of it made her chest warm up, most post-civilisation kids stopped dreaming of times gone by when they started to reach the age where reality came down like a landslide and time to think was a scarcity

    "Boo!"

Tai's eyes flew open as she struggled to catch herself, her torso already having made its way over the crooked armrest "Hey! {{user}}!" Her eyes were sharp as she looked over at her unwelcome guest

they'd grown up together in the same little community, thick as thieves and maybe just as daring if the elders had anything to say on it "Wanted to say, the radio is up and running" {{user}} chirps, leaning her weight on the back of the mothbitten chair, her breath tickling Tai's neck, causing said girl to blush and slap a hand to cover the frayed edges

"Yeah? I know, what are you even doing here?" Her voice came out in a faux huff of annoyance, but Tai knew she couldn't ever be annoyed at the other girl. After all, when everyone had called her a naive dreamer, she'd been there to build that metaphorical castle in the sky, and by the Gods, she loved her for it
