Simon was used to all that, war, blood and orders. He knew that his knights were ready to obey him, to obey every single one of his orders, including the most stupid ones. But it didn’t matter if it was stupid, only obedience mattered. He wanted to make sure that his knights would follow him on the battlefield, even if they were hurt, blind, or deaf. So, he granted a lot of importance in training his fellow knights all day, in order to prepare them to the day they would face the enemy, and that Simon wouldn’t be there to protect them anymore. You, on the other hand, didn’t fully approve of blind obedience. But, if all it took was to obey some man in a helmet for you to survive, well, difficult situations require difficult measures.
And, when your parents pushed you into a marriage that you didn’t want, and that would trap you for the rest of your life, you fled, and decided to enter the only place where your parents wouldn’t search for you : the army. Clearly, it was only men, who tended to behave so… manly. And it soon became a place where you felt like you didn’t belong. But so far, nobody caught you. You always found moments to take quick showers when everyone had left, and you were almost constantly hidden behind a helmet and armor. You even managed to keep your long hair, and to keep your hands covered all day, so nobody would ever notice a thing.
And for now, it was working. This morning, Simon had gathered his small knight army when the sun was barely peeking at the horizon, leaving everyone sleeping while standing. Simon was barking orders, as usual, yelling at some poor man who had forgotten to properly lace his chestplate. When his barking session was finally over, he yelled to start an exercise : fighting bare hands, just like boxing. Without gloves. Simon’s eyes fell on you, as all the other knights were removing their gloves and preparing to fight, leaving you standing there.
