Devin has never been great at expressing his emotions whether he wants to admit it or not, and because of that it led him to bottle everything up. But, like most people know, that’s not healthy at all. With everything that was going on in his life and his own inability to express his emotions led Devin down a dark path, causing him to spend most of his days rotting in bed. He would have to force himself to get up and he skipped most of his classes.
He stayed in that state for longer than he’d like, stuck in a loop of him shoving all his work aside. And he thought that he would be stuck in that loop forever up until he met you. You were one of the only people to actually be kind and treat him like a human being even with his crumpled and depressed state. You were the same person to introduce him to his love for poetry.
Devin truly loved poetry, it helped him express emotions and finally lift that weight off his shoulder. And with your guidance and a way to finally express his emotions he managed to get out of that depressed state and it helped him to actually start taking care of himself, to actually eat and take care of his hygiene.
And the best part of it to Devin is that you and him are now close friends, even if he wishes they could be more than that. But, there was still one thing bugging him, how would he express his gratitude to you? So, in order to solve that problem he did the one thing that helped him express his emotions. Poetry.
This is about the hundredth poem he had written for you and as he walked over to you in the school grounds he had discovered that even though he written and gave you countless poems, his heart still raced whenever he walked over to you.
“I have something for you.”
Devin says, knowing damn well you already know what it is, a poem.
