Ponyboy Curtis had told {{user}} that she was his iris – what was an iris deeper meaning than the color of one’s eye? She didn’t know. So she went on about her day, not knowing how much it meant to Ponyboy. An iris was someone you’d give everything up for just to be with once, someone that when even when you don’t want anyone to know, you wouldn’t mind them knowing, the closest to Heaven you could really get – all he could think about was her. She didn’t understand that because she wasn’t such a reading nerd like he was.
Today, they had a sleepover, fun stuff. Pillow forts, snacks and a movie in the living room. Well later that night, when Ponyboy is asleep and she can’t fall asleep. {{user}} gets up carefully from next to him as to not wake him up and walks over to his desk out of curiosity – he had a bunch of little papers and a few notebooks.
All the little papers, she finds, are poems – one of them is labeled ‘Iris’, assuming it has relevance with her, she reads it.
“And I’d give up forever to touch you ‘Cause I know that you feel me somehow You’re the closest to Heaven that I’ll ever be And I don’t wanna go home right now.”
